About
Belle Sager is a British-Canadian composer and music editor, with a bachelors degree from Berklee College of Music. She has scored over 20 student films and video games, including A-Okay, an award-winning short documentary. Having lived in Canada, the UK, Germany, and the U.S., Belle’s music is heavily inspired by the way sounds shape the experience of place, from the dark, echoic forts of the Boston Harbor Islands to Toronto’s urban subways. Her background in classical piano and influences from rock bands like Jimmy Eat World and Muse, and films like Finding Nemo and The Hunger Games all contribute to her compositional style. Belle's love of nature invokes an ambient quality to her music, which lends itself towards the subjects of the ocean and marine life.
As well as composing, Belle's passion for experimenting with sounds extends to creating sample instruments. Inspired by her experience as a piano technician, Belle's first commercially available sample instrument is a piano that can be detuned in real time. In 2025 she created Devil Ray Sound Works with the intention of selling a variety of sample instruments based on prepared solo instruments.
Using found sounds, custom made sample instruments, synthesizers, electric guitars, and orchestral elements, Belle creates unique scores that help subtly bring out emotion and immerse audiences into films, video games, and other media that convey powerful messages. In her free time Belle enjoys going to aquariums, painting, solving Rubik’s cubes, and hoping that West Ham United will win their next game.
